Binomial Name: Smutsia temminckii Identification: Covered in large, brown, overlapping scales. Small head. Heavy hindquarters and tail. Small forelegs. Cannot be confused with any other species. Weight: Males +/- 12 kg (26 lbs), females +/- 12 kg (26 lbs) Gestation: 4-5 months Young: Single young Habitat: Open grassland, woodland and rocky hills, but excluding forests and deserts.
